THE BLOCKER SYSTEM

BLACKOUT ISN'T JUST ABOUT THE FABRIC.

Ordinary blackout blinds can use excellent opaque material and still leave bright lines around the edges. BLOCKER takes a different approach: a made-to-measure blind combined with a close-fitting perimeter system designed to control those gaps.

Made to measure • Millimetre-first ordering

THE PROBLEM

THE LIGHT USUALLY GETS IN AROUND THE BLIND.

A conventional roller sits in front of the window with clearance around the fabric so it can move. In a bright room that gap may look small. In a dark bedroom at sunrise, it can become the brightest part of the window.

  • Side glow down the edges of the fabric
  • A bright line at the top of the blind
  • Light beneath the bottom bar
  • Glare around uneven recesses

A DIFFERENT APPROACH

CONTROL THE OPENING, NOT JUST THE GLASS.

BLOCKER is designed as a complete window system. The blind controls light through the material while the surrounding frame and edge channels are intended to reduce visible light around the perimeter.

A standard blackout blind focuses on opaque fabric. BLOCKER is designed to deal with the perimeter as well.

MADE TO YOUR WINDOW

SIX MEASUREMENTS. NO GUESSWORK.

Measure the recess width at the top, middle and bottom. Then measure the height at the left, centre and right. BLOCKER uses the narrowest width and shortest height as the starting order dimensions. Check clear recess depth and obstructions before ordering.

  • Three width readings: top, middle, bottom
  • Three height readings: left, centre, right
  • Record every reading in millimetres where you can
  • Do not make your own deduction — send the readings you took

WHERE TO MEASURE

THE SIX POINTS, AND THE DEPTH.

Recesses are rarely perfectly square. Measuring in six places reveals the narrowest width and the shortest height, and the depth check confirms there is clear space for the system.

Width × 3, height × 3 Measure the inside of the recess, in millimetres. Openings are rarely square, so we build to the smallest figure in each direction.

CHECK BEFORE YOU ORDER

DESIGNED AROUND UK & EUROPEAN WINDOWS.

Recesses, handles and opening styles vary. Check your window before ordering so you know there is enough clear space for the system. If you are not sure, send us photographs and we will look at it with you.

  • Measure the clear depth of the recess, not just the width and height
  • Note handles, locks, vents and trim inside the opening
  • Check which way the window opens and how far it travels

FROM BOX TO WINDOW

A CLEAR FITTING PROCESS.

The fitting journey is broken into four stages: assemble the supplied system, prepare the perimeter, position it squarely in the recess, and test the blind and edges.

STAGE 01 — 02

ASSEMBLE & PREPARE

Lay out the supplied components on a clean surface, connect the frame squarely, then prepare the perimeter using the components supplied with your blind.

STAGE 03

POSITION

Seat the assembled system squarely in the recess and check the clearances all the way round before fixing anything in place.

STAGE 04

TEST

Open and close the blind through its normal travel, then inspect the top, sides, bottom and corners in daylight.

QUESTIONS

BEFORE YOU BUILD YOURS.

What makes BLOCKER different from an ordinary blackout blind?

An ordinary blackout blind concentrates on the opacity of the fabric. BLOCKER is designed as a system: a made-to-measure blind plus a close-fitting perimeter intended to control the edges of the opening, where light around a conventional roller is usually most visible.

Why do I need three width and three height measurements?

Window recesses are rarely perfectly square. Reading the width at the top, middle and bottom, and the height at the left, centre and right, shows you the narrowest and shortest points — which is what the system has to fit into.

Do I deduct anything from my measurements?

No. Send the readings exactly as you took them. Any allowance needed for manufacture is applied when your order is prepared. If you deduct first, that allowance gets applied twice.

Will BLOCKER fit a tilt-and-turn window?

It depends on the individual opening rather than the window style. Tilt-and-turn windows vary in how far the sash travels inwards and where the handle sits. Send photographs of the full window, the recess and the handle before ordering and we will look at it with you.

How is BLOCKER installed?

Fitting is broken into four stages: assemble the supplied system, prepare the perimeter, position it squarely in the recess, then test the blind and inspect the edges in daylight. The full walkthrough is on the Installation Guide, and the component-specific detail is supplied in the printed instructions that come with your blind.

What if my recess is uneven?

Uneven recesses are common, especially in older properties. That is exactly why the six-point measurement matters — the narrowest width and shortest height are the ones that determine the fit. If the variation between your readings is large, send us the figures before ordering.

Can someone check my window before I order?

Yes. Send a photograph of the full window, a photograph of the recess, a close-up of any handle or obstruction, your six measurements, the clear recess depth and how the window opens. Contact BLOCKER and we will go through it with you.

What recess depth do I need?

Measure the clear depth from the front face of the recess back to the glass or frame, at the narrowest point, and record it with your order. Our team will confirm whether the opening suits the system before manufacture begins.
