QUESTIONS, ANSWERED.
What makes BLOCKER different from a normal blackout roller blind?
A normal blackout roller may use opaque fabric while still leaving gaps around the perimeter. BLOCKER is designed as a made-to-measure system that also addresses light at the edges.
What colours do BLOCKER blinds come in?
Frame colour is available in White, Grey and Black. The BLOCKER Pleated Blackout Fabric colour range is still being finalised, so every blind is currently made in black fabric. We will publish the full range here once it is confirmed, rather than list finishes we cannot yet supply.
How do I measure a window for a BLOCKER blind?
Check the usable recess depth first. Then measure the internal width at the top, middle and bottom, followed by the internal height at the left, centre and right. Record everything in millimetres. The measuring guide covers each step.
Why do I need to measure three widths and three heights?
Window openings are often slightly uneven. Six measurements identify the narrowest width and the shortest height, so the blind is not made larger than the available opening.
Which width and height measurement do I actually order with?
The smallest width and the smallest height of the six. Work those two figures out from your own measurements and enter them in the configurator — it asks for the final width and drop, not all six. The measuring guide walks through how to find them.
Do I need to deduct anything from my measurements before ordering?
No. Enter the exact measurements requested and allow the manufacturing system to apply any required fitting allowance. Do not subtract an arbitrary few millimetres of your own.
What do I do if a window handle sits inside the recess?
Measure the full recess depth, measure how far the handle projects towards the room, and subtract one from the other. That figure is your usable clear depth. If it looks tight, send us a photograph before ordering.
Can BLOCKER check my measurements before I order?
Yes. Send a straight-on photograph of the window, a side-angle photograph showing recess depth, a close-up of the handles, your six measurements and your clear recess depth.
Can I order a BLOCKER blind in inches instead of millimetres?
Yes. Switch the unit to Inches in the configurator and enter your figures to one decimal place. We convert to millimetres, show you the converted size before you add to basket, and manufacture from the millimetre value.
What is the smallest and largest size BLOCKER can make?
From 200 mm to 6000 mm wide, and from 200 mm to 2500 mm drop. The configurator will tell you if a size falls outside that and will not let you order one we cannot make.
Will a BLOCKER blind fit any window?
No made-to-measure system fits every opening. Compatibility depends on recess depth, dimensions, obstructions and how the window opens. The window types guide sets out what to check for each style.
Does BLOCKER work on skylights or angled glazing?
Not offered. We do not recommend BLOCKER for overhead or angled installation.
Can BLOCKER be fitted in a bay window?
Each opening is measured and ordered separately. Check the side angles and whether adjacent frames would clash before ordering.
Can I install a BLOCKER blind myself?
The product is intended for home fitting, and a fitting guide written for the hardware in your order is supplied with the blind. See the installation page.
Are BLOCKER blinds made to measure?
Yes. Each blind is produced from the dimensions submitted with the order.
Can I change my measurements after I've placed my order?
Contact us immediately. Once manufacture has started, made-to-measure dimensions may no longer be changeable.
How long does a BLOCKER order take to arrive?
Your order confirmation will give the production and delivery window for your blind. If you need the current lead time before ordering, ask us.
How do I clean a BLOCKER blackout blind?
Remove loose dust with a soft dry cloth, or vacuum using a low-suction upholstery tool. Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners.
STILL STUCK?
PARTICULARLY IF YOUR WINDOW IS UNUSUAL — CHECK WITH US FIRST.
We would rather check a photo before manufacture than sort out a measurement problem after.
